LASER VISION CORRECTION

Advances in the field of refractive surgery have made LASIK (laser assisted in situ keratomileusis) and PRK (photo refractive keratectomey) some of the safest and most commonly performed elective procedures in the world. With modern laser technology, it is now possible to get very accurate and predictable results. You can now reliably obtain the glasses independence that you desire.

Anyone with nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism is experiencing a refractive error. The cornea and the lens in your eye are responsible for focusing incoming light onto your retina. When the cornea and lens are unable to properly focus incoming light, images appear blurry or distorted. Glasses and contact lenses refocus the light through the eye’s optical system so that light rays are properly focused on the retina, correcting this problem. In refractive surgery, the goal is to reshape the front of the eye (the cornea) so that those light rays come sharply into focus. At Worthington Ophthalmology, we have partnered with the The Eye Center of Columbus to provide you with latest technology in the field of refractive surgery. The center utilizes the latest and most advanced Excimer laser and is capabale of customized ablations. Advances in technology now allow for "bladeless" LASIK.  Femtosecond laser flap creation allows for safiest and most predictable creation of the LASIK flap.
