HISTORY

Worthington Ophthalmology owes its genesis to two previous generations of dedicated eye doctors. In 1949, World War II veteran and graduate of the Ohio State University College of Optometry, Jack W Albright, opened a family practice of Optometry in Worthington, Ohio. In 1976, his son, James B Albright joined his father in the Worthington office. Drs. Jack and Jim had the good fortune of practicing together until 1996 when Jack passed away after 47 years of Optometry. Dr. Steven Schnulo, also an Ohio State graduate, joined Drs. Jack and Jim in 1990. Dr. Steve became a full partner later on.

With the support and encouragement of Drs. Schnulo and Albright, Trent D. Albright MD has returned to the Columbus area to establish Worthington Ophthalmology. The addition of his talents provides a new level of eye care to 89 E Wilson Bridge Rd. Dr. Trent is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and a fellowship trained Cornea and Refractive surgeon. He specializes in no stitch, no patch, cataract surgery including premium lens implants (multifocaltoric, and accommodating IOLs), Corneal transplants (Penetrating Keratoplasty and Descemet’s Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty), Pterygium surgery and Refractive (laser vision correction) surgery. Dr. Albright also has extensive training in all aspects of comprehensive medical and surgical Ophthalmology.

Our goal at Worthington Ophthalmology is to provide you with the same level of personalized and professional care that has been synonymous with the Albright name for over 70 years. We look forward to the opportunity and the privilege of serving you.

Trent Davis Albright MD is a native of Westerville and the second oldest of Jim and Vicki Albright's five children. He attended St. Francis DeSales High School where he was active in football and wrestling. After graduating from high school he enrolled at Ohio State where he majored in biology and was a member of the rugby team. After medical school graduation, ophthalmology applicant are required to practice a year of general medicine. Trent chose Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida for his internship. The summer did not last forever, however, as after one short year, the gentle ocean breeze was traded for the mighty lakefront gusts of the Windy City. Trent spent the next three years honing his skills in Ophthalmology at the Cook County Hospital in Chicago, a hospital dedicated to the poor. Following his residency training, Trent elected to pursue an additional year of training in Cornea and Refractive (laser vision correction) surgery with some of the field's foremost experts at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia

Trent has returned home to Columbus to pursue what has always been his ultimate goal: to continue the work that his father and grandfather have done for over seven decades. Trent belongs to numerous ophthalmologist societies. In his free time, he enjoys running and golf. Trent and his best friend Brian Yeager have hosted the Doc and Yeager Invitational for over 15 years. This annual outing has contributed tens of thousands of dollars in donations to the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization of central Ohio.
